Tampa Bay Fishing and St Petersburg FishingReport Date: February 22, 2011Tampa Bay fishing has started to really get good in the past couple weeks. While fishing Tampa Bay at the mouth of the bay Spanish mackerel have invaded the area and places with good tidal flow and bait (mostly glass minnows) have been full of nice sized drag burners. The seatrout are on the feed on every grassflat I've fished and they've been caught on artificial jigs and shrimp under a cork. The black drum are here. If you can find one of the schools in an area that is away from the well known schools you can have a blast on these bruisers without a crowd. The sheepshead are everywhere on the structures with tidal flow and bunched up for the spawn. They're eating well since they're using more energy than normal. The redfish are making they're presence known if you're looking in the right areas. |
