Tampa Bay area fishing report

Report Date: May 26, 2006

Fishing remains strong in the Tampa Bay area. We're fishing for snook, tarpon, king and spanish mackerel, shark, cobia, and more right now. It's non-stop action in the morning on the kings and macks followed by mangrove, bridge, and shoreline fishing throughout the rest of the day. Today, while fishing structure in Tampa Bay, as soon as we approached our target I looked down and was greeted by two cobia circling the bow of the boat. Nice!

Tampa Bay Cobia

We put out a bait and got the first fish to the boat rather quikcly and left him in the water and the client went on to boat the second fish. The first was a short and was released and the second was a keeper and was invited to stay the day in the fish cooler. The fishing has been great this spring. Until next report.

Tight lines!
